This article summarizes what's recently shipped in DISTILL x 5 (Dx5), what's on the way, and answers common questions about our release cadence. We review it here each quarter alongside our State of the Product webinar.
Our release commitment
We deliver two features / fixes every month. Some are large, some are small, and timing can shift, but the monthly cadence is the constant. Every release is designed and validated with customers before it ships.
We intentionally don't publish hard delivery dates for individual features. The order and contents of the roadmap change as we learn from customers and the market, which lets us stay responsive. What we commit to is the monthly cadence and working through the list below.
Available now
Federal Excise Tax Report. Found in Reports. Choose a period (monthly, quarterly, or annual) and generate a pre-populated, ready-to-file PDF in one click, no more totaling the excise table by hand.
Coming soon
Lot tracking. Tie an action to a specific lot directly within the forms you already use, orders, purchase orders, receipts, bottling, and finished goods.
Linked DSPs. Transfer in-bond product between facilities you choose. One side initiates the transfer, the other accepts, and both sides' inventory and bonded records update automatically. Note: Linked DSPs is an add-on with a monthly fee.
On the roadmap
The following are planned for development and release:
- Container and tank tags — printable tags with a QR code that links to the batch record.
- Case label templates — a flexible format setting with a corrected "bottled by" field, built to hold up on large runs.
- Barrel and container notes — persistent, freeform notes that stay with the container, showing who wrote each note and when.
- Financial ledger — a native double-entry ledger and audit trail, so you can answer core financial questions inside Dx5.
- Undo transactions — self-service reversal of eligible adjustments, without opening a support ticket.
- Blending and processing recipes — a rebuilt recipe foundation that supports blends and processing workflows.
- Off-site barrels — track barrels stored outside your own premises.
- Spirit owner codes — ownership tracking extended to bulk spirit stored in totes.
- In-app "What's New" hub — see what's shipped and changing without hunting for release notes.
On the horizon: barrel management
We're building a dedicated barrel management product that covers the full barrel lifecycle. A limited customer pilot runs first, followed by a broader launch. This product will be offered alongside DISTILL x 5, as a net new product. Further out, we're evaluating a solution for production and capacity planning.
Frequently asked questions
Are new features available to all customers, or a la carte?
Most features are turned on for all customers at no additional cost. A small number of capabilities, such as Linked DSPs, are add-ons that will carry a fee. The barrel management product will also be a paid product.
Does barrel management work for palletized storage?
Yes, it will support both palletized and rackhouse storage.
Is there a mobile app?
The features above are web-based. Our first mobile app, a calculator app, is currently in beta.
How do I submit a feature request or report a bug?
Use the support link inside DISTILL x 5. Requests route directly to our product team, where we track and trend them to inform the roadmap.
Why don't you publish specific release dates?
So we can stay responsive to customer needs and market shifts. We commit to a monthly delivery cadence and will notify you as individual features are scheduled.
How often is this updated?
We host a State of the Product webinar each quarter and publish this article alongside it.
