The most frequently asked questions from Migration Demos.
Q: When does Whiskey Systems officially expire or sunset?
A: Support for the Whiskey Systems libraries will end on December 31, 2026. However, this does not mean the platform will stop working or that you must migrate by that date.
After December 31, updates, fixes, and technical support will no longer be available. Your Migration Specialist will work with you to plan a transition to DISTILL x 5 on a timeline that makes sense for your team.
Q: Is there a cost to migrate, and how does DISTILL x 5 pricing compare to Whiskey Systems?
A: Migration is included with your subscription at no additional cost. For additional support, you can review our premium migration services in the White Glove Migrations Menu below.
DISTILL x 5 pricing is based on your production level and corresponding pricing tier. In general, DISTILL x 5 is about 3-5% less than Whiskey Systems depending on your tier, meaning most customers save money by migrating. If you're unsure which tier you fall into, our team is happy to help.
Q: How much data gets moved over? What additional work will be expected from me when I get access to my system?
A: Most current operational data will be migrated from Whiskey Systems to DISTILL x 5. This includes raw materials, packaging materials, barrel profiles, current batch inventory (fermenters, tanks, barrels, and finished products with remaining volume), internal spirit types (converted to batch types), custom vendor costs, and contacts such as customers, DSPs, and vendors.
A few items, including packaging materials linked to product masters, will be configured during your migration to DISTILL x 5. This process includes setting up recipes, mash bills, packaging supply connections, and case storage profiles, with support from our team to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Once you begin using DISTILL x 5 your Whiskey Systems account will transition to Read-Only mode. This mode supports visibility into historical Whiskey Systems data that will not migrate into DISTILL x 5, allowing you to reference past activity as needed.
Q: How do I know if this is the right time to migrate?
A: When deciding the best time to migrate, consider what’s happening operationally at your distillery. If you’re in the middle of a major change, onboarding new team members, or entering a slower production season, it may be a good time to begin the migration process.
Feature parity is another factor to keep in mind. While Dx5 already supports many of the workflows teams rely on, there are a few enhancements and additional capabilities currently in development for 2026 that we’re excited to roll out. If any workflows that are critical to your day-to-day operations are not yet available in Dx5, it may make sense to wait before migrating.
