Bottling: Source Batch and Finished Product Proofs Do Not Match (Read Time: 1 min)

Although the TTB does allow for bottling within a given margin of error of your declared Bottled Spirit proof printed on your Bottled Spirit label, bottling in DISTILL x 5 requires users' source batch and Finished Product proofs are an exact match. Since Excise is calculated against the declared Bottled Spirit proof, DISTILL x 5 has a block against bottling at variable proofs to keep users as compliant as possible. To clear an "mismatch in proofs" error either:

• Create a new finished product to reflect the exact proof of the batch to be bottled so data is consistent, or
• Recalibrate or cut the source batch to match the finished product

If a proof measured by a Fill Test is different from the labeled proof, and that proof is within the allowable margin of error permitted by the TTB, users can record those details using the Run Fill Test functionality in DISTILL x 5.
