Q: What makes Dx5 different from WS?
A: Is important to understand that DISTILL x 5 and Whiskey Systems are two completely separate systems that ultimately share the same goal: helping you manage your distillery operations efficiently and in full compliance. Dx5 brings a modern, streamlined experience that makes it easier (and faster!) to manage your operations. You’ll notice:

Q: Is the price for DISTILL x 5 different from Whiskey Systems?
A: Pricing tiers are the same across both platforms, based on your prior year’s profitable product volume.
DISTILL x 5 pricing is about 5–10% lower than comparable Whiskey Systems agreements. If you’re already planning to transition, migrating sooner can help you begin realizing those savings earlier while also getting your team onboarded ahead of future renewal planning.
During migration, we’ll review your updated agreement together to make sure you’re getting the best value, including any savings or credits.
Q: What happens to my Whiskey Systems historical data after migrating to DISTILL x 5?
A: Once you begin using DISTILL x 5 as your sole system for operations tracking and reporting, your Whiskey Systems account will move to Read-Only mode. With Read-Only activated, former WS users will still be able to log into their previous account, view historical data, access past transactions, and run reports, but will no longer be able to add, edit, or delete records. Read-only access will remain available during your transition, and any future shutdown will be clearly communicated well in advance.
Q: If I’m getting ready to onboard new team members, is it better to integrate with Dx5 now or later?
A: If you're about to bring on new team members, it can actually be a great time to switch to Dx5! Training them on the new system from the start means they won’t have to unlearn WS workflows. Plus, Dx5 is more intuitive and user-friendly, which makes migration smoother for new hires.
Q: How long will it take me to get up to speed in DISTILL x 5? How long does the migration training process last?
A:On average, customers transitioning from Whiskey Systems to DISTILL x 5 are fully up and running within 45 to 60 days. During this time, you’ll work closely with a dedicated migration specialist through regular check-in calls and ongoing support to ensure a smooth onboarding experience. If additional time or training is needed, we’ll collaborate with you to tailor the timeline before officially transitioning you to our Customer Success team for long-term support.
Q: Can I make edits to my starting inventory in Dx5 after migration?
A: It depends on whether your books for the target starting month have been initialized in Dx5.
If your books have not been initialized: You can still make changes to starting inventory for finished products, raw materials, tanks, barrels, etc.
If your books have been initialized: You will no longer be able to make changes yourself. However, just submit a support ticket or reach out to your migration specialist. Our Development Team can make the correction for you — just be sure to include what needs to be changed and the new values.

Monthly Check-Ins During migration (Included w/ System Migration)
For the first 60 days, you'll have scheduled check-ins with your migration specialist where you can ask detailed, account-specific questions and make sure you're on track.
Q: I’m currently subscribed to the QBO Add-on in Whiskey Systems. Will that still be applied to my billing?
A: No. When you sign a new DISTILL x 5 Service Agreement, you will need to re-select the QBO accounting integration to opt into either QuickBooks Online or Xero Accounting integration.
Accounting Billing Details: Billing for the integration will not begin until the system has been activated, which occurs after your guided implementation session.
Accounting Training Options: Your migration specialist will assist with activating the integration, scheduling the right time to begin the process, and providing both free training resources and optional paid assisted integration training.
Q: I’m currently on an annual Whiskey Systems contract that doesn’t renew anytime soon—if I switch over to DISTILL x 5, does my contract renewal date reset?
A: No. Although you’ll sign a new DISTILL x 5 service agreement when you migrate, your original Whiskey Systems renewal date remains unchanged.
Q: What are our available options if we wanted to switch back to Whiskey Systems from DISTILL x 5?
A: Whiskey Systems is scheduled for sunsetting after 2026, after which it will no longer be supported, so reverting back is generally not recommended. However, if there’s specific functionality you rely on that’s already on the DISTILL x 5 roadmap but not yet available, please notify your migration specialist. We’ll work with our product team to prioritize and estimate delivery.
If the feature isn’t on the roadmap but is critical for your operations, here’s two options:

- Postpone Your Migration: If the missing feature is critical, you can delay your move to DISTILL x 5. Stay in regular contact with your migration team for roadmap updates and an estimated release timeline—then resume your migration once the capability is available.
Q: When does Whiskey System officially expire/sunset?
A: Support for the Whiskey System libraries ends on 12/31/2026. However, this does not mean you are required to transition off Whiskey by that date. After December 31, we will no longer be able to address critical issues or provide fixes, but the system will not suddenly stop working.
This is not a hard cutoff or a ticking clock. You Migration Specialist will work closely with you to ensure you’re supported and transitioned to DISTILL x 5 on a timeline that makes sense for your team and your business.
