Operations: Fill Pre-Existing (Named) Barrel (Read Time: 4 mins)

Under Barrel Actions, you'll find two similarly-named options for Filling Barrels:

A common question is: When do you use "Fill Pre-Existing" vs "Fill New" Barrels?

• Use Fill New (Unnamed) Barrel when you're filling a barrel that is "new" to your DISTILL x 5 system (even if it's a 2nd or 3rd use barrel, or a finishing barrel). See also: Operations: Fill New (Unnamed) Barrel
  
  
• Use Fill Pre-Existing (Named) Barrels when you're filling a barrel that was previously emptied in your DISTILL x 5 system. 

How To Fill Barrels When Barrel was Previously Used in DISTILL x 5

Navigate to: Operations > Overview and select "Barrel Actions". Choose "Fill Pre-existing (Named) Barrels":

You'll be prompted for:

• Fill Date/Time
• Destination Vessel Stage (allows you to fill barrels into your Storage or Processing account. "Processing Barrels" must be enabled in System Settings for the Processing option to appear)
• Source Vessel (tank that is holding the spirit to be barreled)
• Barrel Batch Type
• Barrel Profile

Once you have selected these options, a Barrel Fill interface will populate, below, allowing you to specify the Lot ID, Fill Volume, and the previously-dumped barrels that you are (re)filling:

Remember that Lot IDs should be appended with an "A", "B", "C", and so on if you are filling multiple lots in one day. See 27 CFR 19.485 for more information on Lot ID requirements.

Troubleshooting

• If you are unable to see the "Processing Barrels" stage option, make sure you've enabled this in your System Settings. See also: Admin: Enable Barrels in Processing
  
  
• If you are unable to select your desired Source Vessel, ensure that you have made a valid selection (Processing Barrels may be filled from a Production, Storage or Processing vessel; Storage Barrels may only be filled from a Production or Storage vessel). Check that your Vessel is enabled in the correct Stage (see Operations > Setup > Vessels)
  
  
• If you are unable to select your desired Barrel Batch Type, ensure that the Batch Type is enabled in the correct Stage (Storage or Processing).  See Operations > Setup > Batch Types.
  
  
• If you do not see an option for Barrel Profile, you may need to add one or more Barrel Profiles to your system. See also: Setup: Add Barrel Profile
